On October 1st, the US Secretary of Labor announced a final rule that raises the minimum wage for workers on federal service and construction contracts to $10.10 per hour, implementing the president’s Executive Order 13658, announced earlier this year.
The ruling applies to new contracts and replacements for expiring contracts, beginning Jan. 1, 2015.
The minimum wage requirement applies to all contracts for construction covered by the Davis-Bacon Act; contracts for services covered by the Service Contract Act; concessions contracts; and contracts to provide services on federal property for federal employees or the general public.
