The World Password Day campaign wants us to get serious about all those passwords we use every day!
Adding strong authentication to your password can prevent identity theft or account hacking, and can protect your bank account, your email, and your social media sites.
‘Layering up’ your login means enabling two-factor authentication in the settings of your email, bank, or social media apps and websites. This extra step to your login process gives you powerful protection against identity theft and account hijacking.
- Start with a strong password. Try not to use the same password at many different sites, and avoid easy-to-guess passwords such as the names of pets or family members.
- Add a second layer of protection via a Fingerprint ID (available on most smartphones and many laptops), or a Single-Use Code sent directly to your phone.
