State and Local Governments Can Use GSA’s Purchasing Power in an Emergency or Disaster

 

GSA’s Disaster Purchasing Program allows state and local governments to buy supplies and services directly from all GSA Schedule Vendors, to facilitate disaster preparation, response, or major disaster recovery. Purchases made in support of recovery must be in response to a Stafford Act Presidential declaration. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) manages the list of declared disasters.

includes: disinfectants, water treatments, brooms/mops, hand tools, plastic sheeting, exterior materials
 
Electronic/Power equipment
includes: power generators, pumps, batteries, heating & ventilation, 2-way radios, extension cords
Emergency and Rescue
includes: fire fighting equipment, life vests, fire/rescue trucks, rescue watercraft, emergency lighting, ladders
 
Food and Cooking supplies
includes: preserved foods, ice chests, beverages, kitchenware, MREs, bottled water
Medical supplies
includes: first aid kits, resuscitation products, wound care products, body bags, lifts/ stretchers
 
Personal Care and Hygiene
includes: soap, hand cleaner/sanitizers, skin care, towels, decontamination showers
Personal Safety and Protection
includes: safety apparel/footware; respiratory, vision, hearing, and head protection, detectors, horns
 
Security and Control
includes: security and crowd control equipment, traffic control
Temporary Housing and Shelter
includes: prefabricated shelters, tents, sleeping bags, cots, bedclothes, tarps
 
Vehicles and Heavy Equipment
includes: ATVs, backhoes, front end loaders, earth moving machinery, light trucks
