Calling All Amateur Astronomers This Memorial Weekend!

NASA is partnering with Slooh (a private IT company) to allow ‘citizen scientists’ to track near-Earth asteroids (NEOs) that are potentially hazardous to human populations.

The company’s network of web-connected telescopes will be available for use by amateur astronomers for monitoring and characterizing NEOs.

During this weekend’s LINEAR comet meteor shower (May 2324), NASA and Slooh will provide live feeds of the event on the company’s website and on NASA’s UStream feed from the Marshall Spaceflight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
