Every year, the federal government spends over $400 billion dollars on goods and services – the largest purchaser of goods and services in the world – and has a goal to spend at least 23% of those contract dollars with small businesses.
In FY2017 the federal government met those goals, and awarded over 23% in prime contract dollars to small businesses – for a total of $105 billion – the first time that small businesses received more than $100 billion in prime contracts.
The federal government also awarded almost $75 billion in subcontracting dollars to small businesses.
