GSA Plans New Cyber-security SIN for Schedule 70

These days, cyber-security is a challenge for any organization, including the federal government.

The President’s Cyber-security National Action Plan, released earlier this year, aims to enhance cyber-security awareness and protections.

The Office of Management and Budget has directed GSA to research contract vehicle options that Federal agencies can use to quickly deploy incident response services.

As a result, GSA is considering a new Schedule 70 SIN (Special Item Number), specifically for Highly Adaptive Cyber-security Services (HACS), and has posted a Request for Information notice to gain industry feedback, and a better understanding of how companies are currently selling these services on IT Schedule 70.

A distinct SIN specifically for Cyber-security services would

  • better reflect the market and customer needs
  • consolidate Cyber-security services into a single SIN, making it easier for agencies to find the right solution.
  • allow companies to more easily differentiate their Cyber-security services from other IT offerings
  • improve sales reporting and visibility for these types of services

Responses to the Request for Information notice are due by June 21st
