GSA released a memo on 03/22 , after they discovered that information in SAM had been hacked – some contractors registered in SAM have had their bank account information altered, so that contract payments were re-routed directly to the hacker’s bank accounts.
GSA stated that companies should contact their federal agency awarding official if they find that any federal agency payments have been paid to another bank account.
Any company that changed their financial information in SAM in the last year will receive notification, and will be asked to validate their registration information.
GSA has advised anyone registered in SAM to review their information, paying particular attention to their financial information.
Going forward, SAM will require an original, signed notarized letter identifying the authorized Administrator for a company before any new registration will be activated.
