SAM Registration Update – Notarized Authorization Requirement Expanded & Clarified

Two weeks ago we wrote about the recent hack into the System for Award Management (SAM) site,  where some registered companies found their bank account information altered, allowing  contract payments to be re-routed to a hacker’s bank account.

Following this hack, SAM added a requirement for a signed notarized letter from the company, identifying their authorized Administrator, before activating any new registration.

Now SAM has expanded this requirement, to include any vendor whose existing registration needs to be updated after April 27.

In addition, SAM has clarified the exact format of this letter, and has issued two templates that businesses can use:  Template 1 if you have a single business location or DUNS number, or Template 2 if your business has more than one location or DUNS number
