What Are Non-Appropriated Funds?

Non-appropriated Funds money is derived from sources other than congressional appropriations.

Funds come primarily from the sale of goods and services to Dept. of Defense personnel and their families.

Funds are used to provide Morale, Welfare, and Recreation programs.

Non-appropriated fund customers include commissaries, exchanges, recreation and fitness centers, dining at officer/enlisted/civilian clubs, and barber/beauty services, just to name a few.
