Following the government shutdown, congress decided to pay furloughed federal employees for the time they missed, but many federal contractors were also affected, and their employees were forced to take unpaid leave.
Congresswoman Eleanor Norton has introduced the Low-Wage Federal Contractor Back Pay Act, to award back pay to low-wage federal contractors in retail, food, custodial and security services, who were forced to take unpaid furlough days during the shutdown.
