The Department of Commerce partnered with AT&T to develop FirstNet – a broadband network exclusively for first responders – and now wants to build a dedicated app store for public safety-related products.
FirstNet is encouraging developers to submit smartphone and tablet applications for approval. The developer program will feed the FirstNet app store, providing public safety with a one-stop shop for reliable, highly secure solutions optimized for the FirstNet network.
Developers will have access to a specialized portal with resources to help them build, test, deploy and maintain public safety applications. The portal also contains guidelines to follow when developing for public safety.
