Should all federal government websites have a standardized look and design?
If you’ve ever tried to find online information about a particular government agency or service, you know how confusing it can be! Different websites with different navigation systems, visual styles and formats; commercial sites masquerading as official federal sites; many federal websites that are not mobile friendly.
The US Digital Service and 18F believes that a set of Web Design Standards could encourage agencies to re-design their websites, so the general public gets a consistent experience across all government platforms.
The guide discusses both a website’s visual style (things like standardized fonts and colors) as well as code and user interface elements.
