Feds Warn Against Hurricane Harvey Charity Scams

If you’re thinking about donating to help victims of Hurricane Harvey, be cautious. Unfortunately there’s always an increase in email scams from fraudulent charities after natural disasters.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) suggests that you donate only to “trusted voluntary organizations” approved by the National Voluntary Organizations Active In Disaster association. That group has about 50 members including the American Red Cross, Convoy of Home and United Way Worldwide.

Be wary of messages related to Hurricane Harvey, even if they appear to be from an organization or person you know.
