The HUBZone program helps businesses located in “Historically Underutilized Business Zones”. The Federal Government has a goal of awarding 3% of all dollars for federal prime contracts to HUBZone-certified small business concerns.
Benefits for HUBZone-certified companies include
- ‘Set-aside’ contracts, where bids are only be accepted from HUBZone small businesses
- Sole source contracting, if the Contracting Officer determines eligibility
- A 10% price evaluation preference in full and open contract competitions
- Subcontracting opportunities with Prime contractors
