The federal government reached its small business contracting goal for the first time in eight years, awarding 23.4% ($83.1 billion) in federal contracts to small businesses, according to the SBA’s Small Business Scorecard.
Agencies also awarded a higher percentage of contracts to businesses in specific socio-economic categories:
- service-disabled veteran-owned small business: 8.6 %
- women-owned small businesses: 4.3 %
- service-disabled veteran owned: 3.4 %
- HUB-Zone program: 1.3 %
